As this is a problem for anyone who overeats, as the body part tends to catch extra weight, it become pronounced during periods when you do overeat, and are not exercising as much. Side Bends -
With your feet shoulder width apart, you will reach down towards one toe, and with the opposite arm you will reach up (placing it on your waist). Doing 100 reps, and alternating sides, is going to target the area of your waist where the inches seem to add up.
Standing Twists -

You will place your hands behind your head, and keep your elbows straight out; you will then isolate the core, without moving the hips, and twist to one side then the other (alternating). These Muffin Top Exercises are a bit tougher to do. Laying on your back, you will place your feet straight up in the air, and your hands straight up as well (over your face). You will keep the shoulders off the floor, and lift from the waist; this is going to target the core muscle groups as well, and will isolate the muscle activity while you are working out. As these are more difficult, if you cannot keep your legs straight, you can bring them down to a 45 degree angle as you lift from the waist. Doing about 50 reps of these exercises will help workout the troubled area.
There are of course other simple exercises that you can do from basic ab work like crunches, to planks, which are one of the best all around body exercises you can do. However, these are not specifically targeted at the muffin top. If doing planks, you can do them on alternate sides (as opposed to doing them on both arms at once), which allows you to isolate the specific muscle groups, and this will be a great exercise to target the muffin top. But, these are for individuals who are a bit more advanced, and might take some getting used to.
So, regardless of how much you have exercised in the past, and how bad the muffin top has gotten, these Muffin Top Exercises are going to help you lose the excess weight around the midsection. If done everyday, and if the proper diet is followed, those who engage in these exercises on a regular basis are going to see the change, and the reduction they were hoping for.

By strengthening the core, you will notice far more in the way of change, than if you simply do hundreds of crunches each day.
By adding exercise to your daily regime, you will see the results; but, if you are not eating the proper foods, or following a sensible diet, that exercise is only going to go so far. So, if you want to see the best results, and want to get rid of the Muffin Top in as short a period of time as possible, you will have to change the diet you have been following, which led to the undesirable body that you are trying to change. Some simple changes can help; some things to consider include:
- cutting out sugars and refined foods;
- eating whole grains;
- high protein diets;
- including fruits and veggies (as the carbs in your diet); and,
